CLASS 1  Novice 25 Dressage Test

10.00 am - Judge: Mrs F. Penn (Warwickshire)

CLASS 2  Novice Horse

Open to SSA Members and Non-Members riding horses/ponies not to have competed Side Saddle prior to 01 January 2007.  To be judged on the suitability of the horse as a side saddle horse.

 

CLASS 3 * Open Equitation

(Run under SSA Rules as defined in the current Members’ Handbook). Open to S.S.A Members and Non-Members. Members carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for S.S.A rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd Junior places and SSA Championship Points.

South East Essex Insurance Brokers Ltd. £10.00 vouchers awarded to SSA Members qualifying for them. Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Member judged to be the best turned out in Adult and Open Equitation Qualifying classes.

 

CLASS 4  * The Side Saddle Association Classical Ladies’ Horse Side Saddle Class

Open to S.S.A Members and Non-members, aged 16 and over on January 1st of the current year, riding side saddle, on horses exceeding 148cm (14.2hh).  To be judged 25% conformation, 25% manners and way of going, 25% rider, and 25% turnout of horse and rider, by SHBGB, BSHC and RHA, BSPS, P(UK) or SSA Panel Judge.  Judges may request a short show, but will not ride exhibits; horses may be stripped at the judge’s discretion.  Traditional habits must be worn.  Fancy Dress and Period Costumes NOT permitted. A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Member of the S.S.A carrying their current Membership Card.

The highest placed horse/rider combination qualifies for the Final to be held at the National Side Saddle Show.  In the event of previous qualification, this may be passed down to 4th place.  Qualifying combinations are required to become members of the SSA 21 days prior to the National Show to be eligible to compete at the Final.

 

CLASS 5  *

Best Horse or Pony to be Ridden Side Saddle

Open to horses or ponies 4 yrs old and over: conformation and manners will be taken into consideration. At the Judge’s discretion, horses/ponies may be stripped for conformation. Special rosette to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the SSA

 

There will be a 30 min break for lunch

 

CLASS 6 *

Side Saddle Concours d’Élégance

The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider’s appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. No individual show is required, but the judge may ask groups of three or four riders to give short displays. 2 special rosettes will be awarded: to the highest placed Adult rider wearing a silk hat and to the highest placed rider wearing a bowler hat, provided they are members of the SSA

N.B. Silk Hats are permitted to be worn by Adults in this Class AT ANY TIME OF DAY. Juniors must wear hats to British Safety standards or above. Adults not wearing such hats do so at their own risk.

 

CLASS 7 * Side Saddle Riding Club Horse/Pony

Open to horses or ponies 4 yrs old and over. Riders will be required to give a short show including a small jump, maximum 61cms (2’). The height may be adjusted during the course of the class at the Judge’s discretion. The class shall be judged on the show, the manners of the horse/pony, and its suitability for the rider. Conformation will not be considered. A Special rosette to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the SSA The PRA will award a special rosette to the highest placed Adult (over 18yrs) riding a pony under 15hh.


 

THERE WILL BE A 15 MIN BREAK TO ALLOW FOR COSTUME CHANGES

CLASS 8  Side Saddle Costume Concours d’Élégance

The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse/pony and rider and the way of going of the horse/pony.  Safe tack must be used. Detailed inspection of the rider’s period costume is not required.  Fancy Dress is not permitted.  Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter.  No individual show is required, but the judge may ask small groups of riders to give short displays.

 

Competitors should produce a brief written résumé of their costume for the Commentator.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Entries for Class 8 will be taken on the day at no extra cost due to the unpredictability of the weather.  The Show organisers reserve the right to cancel this class without notice if inclement weather threatens to damage the costumes.

 

 

 

RULES AND CONDITIONS

§          All classes to be ridden side saddle

§          Judges’ decisions are final.

§          Riders must wear suitable headgear at all times when mounted.  When jumping safety hats to PAS 015, BSEN 1384 or BSEN1385 standard must be worn.  Junior competitors must wear hats to PAS 015, BSEN 1384 or BSEN1385 standard in ALL classes.

§          The organisers reserve the right to divide, amalgamate or cancel any classes, decline an entry, substitute judges, alter times or any of the published information without notice.

§          It shall be deemed a condition of entry that the Organisers, Landowner, and his/her agents shall not be held responsible for any loss, injury or damage to competitors, onlookers, their property, servants or horses/ponies, howsoever caused.

§          No horses/ponies under 4yrs permitted on the showground.

§          No dogs.

Late entries excepted at £15.00 per class if room.
